NIGERIAN ORTHOPAEDIC ASSOCIATION
ABUJA 2026
49TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE
Centre and SuitesAsokoro, Abuja
Welcome Address

On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee and the entire orthopaedic community in the Federal Capital Territory and Nigeria, it is my honour and privilege to welcome all delegates, faculty members, partners, exhibitors, and guests to the 2026 Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Nigeria Orthopaedic Association, holding here in the beautiful city of Abuja.
This year’s conference brings us together at a pivotal moment in our nation’s healthcare journey. The theme, “Access to orthopaedic care in Nigeria: Challenges and opportunities,” reflects the realities we confront daily—gaps in service delivery, workforce limitations, infrastructural constraints, and the rising burden of trauma and musculoskeletal disorders. Yet, it also highlights the immense potential within our reach: innovations in technology, expanding training capacity, evolving practice models, and the collective expertise of dedicated professionals committed to improving patient outcomes.
Our carefully curated subthemes further deepen this conversation:
- Impact of Artificial Intelligence & Robotics in Modern Orthopaedics in Nigeria
As global orthopaedic practice embraces automation, precision surgery, and data‑driven decision‑making, Nigeria must position itself to harness these tools responsibly and effectively. - Group practice: the future of private Orthopaedic care in Nigeria
With rising demand for specialized services, collaborative practice models offer sustainable pathways for quality, efficiency, and improved patient access.
Pre-Conference Courses
Before the main conference, we are delighted to host two high‑impact pre‑conference courses led by distinguished national and international faculty:
- Complex Primary and Revision Knee Arthroplasty including Unicondylar Knee Arthroplasty
- Knee Arthroscopy with Dry Laboratory and Artificial Joint
These sessions are designed to strengthen surgical proficiency and expose participants to evolving global standards.
Community Engagement
In the spirit of service and community engagement, this year’s meeting will also feature a Free Orthopaedic and Trauma outreach in FCT. This initiative reflects our commitment to extending care to underserved populations and demonstrating the practical relevance of our conference theme.
We are grateful to our partners, sponsors, and the Nigerian Army Conference Centre and Suites for providing a conducive environment for learning, collaboration, and professional growth. Abuja welcomes you with its warmth, hospitality, and vibrant cultural landscape.
As we gather over these six days, I encourage you to engage deeply—share knowledge, challenge assumptions, build networks, and explore new frontiers in orthopaedic science and practice. Together, we can shape a future where every Nigerian has equitable access to quality musculoskeletal care.
I wish you a productive, inspiring, and memorable conference experience.
Welcome to Abuja. Welcome to NOA 2026.
